U.S. first lady Michelle Obama is set to kick off the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street with a gardening segment that’s meant to encourage young children to plant gardens and to eat healthier foods.
Obama, who has been working on the White House Garden and using said gardens to promote a healthier lifestyle, is appearing on the November 10th season premier of Sesame Street. Inspired by the First Family’s decision to plant a vegetable garden at The White House, W. Atlee Burpee & Co. (Burpee) recently decided to cultivate the company’s very own version of the White House Garden at Fordhook Farm in Doylestown, PA, where Burpee trials most of the vegetables and flowers it sells.

Michelle Obama broke ground on the South Lawn of the White House with two dozen local elementary school students in late March to create a 1100-square-foot garden with 55 types of vegetables.

The Obamas have broken ground on their new White House garden and you can take a look, thanks to a new interactive Web tool designed by PlanGarden.
The White House vegetable garden is irregularly-shaped. The online version utilizes a new rotate feature to recreate even the stepping stones and non-square edges of the garden beds. The round edges were done using the curve feature. Plangarden plans to maintain the garden views with up-to-date information as the garden plantings change throughout the year.
