Those words came to mind when I read the latest scientific find studying oatmeal’s benefits in regard to cholesterol. I love oatmeal!!! Being diabetic, I really don’t eat much of it and it has to be the low sugar, low carb stuff, which quite frankly… just isn’t the same. But being that the benefits of cholesterol reduction are proven to be even stronger than when the FDA first approved the correlation back in the 80’s, I am gonna start enjoying my oats again!

I was contacted by someone about reviewing some new books that have just become available. Well, I love the first book. It is called The Eat-Clean Diet by Tosco Reno. The Eat-Clean Diet suggests a new way of eating. Actually, a whole new lifestyle.
I think that it is important to understand that if you want to make a nutritional or exercise related change in your life, it needs to be a complete lifestyle change in order to ensure success!

Fad diets don’t work for long. And don’t you think that eating healthy is the way to go? You may lose an extra 10 pounds by eating all meat, but what do you think your heart will look like? Hmm… not pretty!

Anyway, I am not one for buying into crazy fads or jumping on a band wagon, but when something makes sense, it makes sense! Being a diabetic I absolutely eat a low carb diet, but I do not hesitate to eat my 5 fruits and veggies a day and my whole grains. My sugars are actually lower when I eat a whole lot of fruits and vegetables throughout the day!

Now, I am in no way saying that I agree with every single suggestion in the book. But I do appreciate the practicality and simplicity in which it was written.

Tosco even suggests to have more sex in the book. Well, yee ha! How could I not suggest this book, haha…

The release of male and female hormones causes an increase in metabolic rate… by as much as 15%.

It might be worth your time to check it out, you never know what might be that kick in the ol’ butt that you need to get movin’ and groovin’ to a heart healthier you!
