I love to try new things in the kitchen – new herbs, tools, or ingredients. Many times I fall back on the old and the familiar, because they are easy and save time, but I think a good cook tries new things, challenges themself.
Here’s one of those opportunities – Williams-Sonoma is carrying a new type of roaster for chicken. It looks like something you’d see in a lab.
It’s made by All-Clad and it features a detachable arm that hangs above the roaster pan. The arm has a reservoir that can be filled with flavor infusers such as wine, beer, or …read more

I like dinner and serveware that has a sort of solid and rustic look and feel. My all-time favorite set of plates came from Portugal – gorgeous, rich colors, shiny glaze. I have very pieces left, but that’s because I didn’t put that beautiful stuff up on a shelf. My family enjoyed it each and every day. When I shop for something new, it’s those plates, that look, that I’m trying to recreate.
I love this new set of serveware from Williams-Sonoma. It’s covered with pictures of artichokes, eggplant, tomatoes, and herbs. I like the generous size and that the dishes …read more

The first Christmas after I got married, my mom gave me a gift of cookware, a Better Homes and Garden Cookbook, silverware, and a matched set of cooking utensils. I can remember being thrilled when I opened my presents. Back at that time, I thought being a good wife meant keeping my husband in chocolate chip cookies. I took taking care of him very seriously.
Later, after my divorce, I inherited a set of my Great Grandma’s pans when she died. I love using my Grandma’s things, I love thinking about her in the kitchen, making delicious meals for the family. …read more

My sister, Robin, is a big fan of Williams-Sonoma. She’s also a fan of grilling, so today when I found this cutting board, I thought of her.

It’s made of maple and it has two sides – one is flat for chopping or dicing veggies or fruit, but when you turn it over, it has a grooved edge that catches food juices.

My kitchen is finally back in order and there was never a better time to brush up on all the tools and equipment out there that I wish I could fit in this teeny tiny cooking space.
