Texas And Its Wind Farm

A new wind farm may soon rise in Texas City. This is according to a piece of news that I came across early today. It said that a company that deals with energy, Duke Energy, is actually looking at building a wind farm in the mentioned area.
Just how huge will the wind farm be? Well, they are looking at putting in 30 units of windmills in the piece of land that they are considering. The company has already done a feasibility study and it seems like they are going to be building it in the northern part of the city …read more

Iranian Company Enters Pakistan With Wind Power

All with wind power. That is how the Iranian company SANIR made its way to the country of Pakistan.
See, what happened is that this company, SANIR, has been working with the Energy Ministry of Iran. They had then worked together to collaborate with yet another company which is from Pakistan. They then were able to agree on a deal and so SANIR will be building a wind power plant in Pakistan. This wind power plant will be able to produce 50 megawatts of energy.
Iran has been known to be a good source of power not only for the citizens of …read more

Solar And Wind Power In Calgary Schools

There are some schools in Calgary which are going to be having solar panels or wind turbines. This is part of a program that Enmax has with the area’s school board. This project is Gen E and it is a pilot program which is aiming at teaching and promoting the advantages and benefits that come with conserving energy.
This is a real good way to teach and promote renewable energy and how to conserve energy. A school which has been granted solar panels or which has been given wind turbines could have kids experience first hand what these alternative energy tools …read more

Lake County May Get Wind Farm

Although there are still no sure decisions on this one, there are plans about having a wind farm built on Lake County. News about this has leaked out after some officials of the mentioned place has disclosed that there have been a number of private companies who have expressed interest in building such a project. Of course, looking at it, it sure could be a good one. See, this would mean that people in the area would have easy access to green power and that would also mean less on energy bills. At present, officials of Lake County are looking into …read more

College Gets OK For Wind Turbine

Not much are looking at having turbines in their homes or campuses. A lot prefer solar power through solar panels because they are less obtrusive compared to wind turbines. However, wind turbines can still produce power even at night as long as the wind is still blowing. In Texas, a college has been given the green signal to go ahead with having a wind turbine in its campus. This is the Kalamazoo Valley Community College and it would be receiving soon a wind turbine that towers at 150 feet.
There have been some reactions though and one was the kind of noise …read more

A First For Times Square

When you think of Times Square, what exactly pops into your head? Most of you would probably say the lights, the billboards, and the fun that Times Square and the rest of New York simply exudes. However, in this city that never sleeps and in this city where everything seemingly can be done, there is a first and it can be found in Times Square. It is the very first green billboard. What makes this billboard green is the fact that it has been developed so much so that it does not depend on the grid. All its power is going …read more

Vertical Axis Wind Turbine – Mariah Power

I was researching for Vertical Axis Wind Turbines as this could be a good residential alternative to the typical propeller type wind turbines. The usual propeller wind turbines are known to be bird killers because of the huge sweep area of the blades and when there is wind, the propellers move fast (just like the ones on those propeller airplanes) which birds sometimes cannot see.
Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (sometimes called VAWT) , is mounted vertically  just like what was shown on the video above.   One thing I like about vertical axis wind turbine is that the motor is positioned usually …read more

Wind Power Sucks!

As an advocate of “green” technologies,  I didn’t realize that some people see wind technology the other way.  Most of us only see the benefits of such “green” power and how it enables humanity to cut down its carbon footprint,  however we really haven’t seen and heard much of what other people think about such technology specially from those people who are “affected” by these huge wind turbines.
I was browsing CNN.com and found this story about John Yancey and the wind turbines on their family’s farmland.    Yancey lives with his wife and children on the Tug Hill plateau, half …read more

Will Virginia Wind Farm Push Through?

When there is wind, there is power. That is, if you know how to hone it. And in the United States, there are some states already which have already decided that (aside from solar farms) wind farms would be one of the best ways to enjoy free and very clean energy.
Now in Virginia, a report has discussed that the state may already be ready to take on having a wind farm. In fact, they are looking at creating a wind farm which could be holding a hundred turbines. These turbines could stand even taller than the very famous Statue of …read more

Hoping To Get Free Power From Wind

In Minnesota, some areas are hoping that they would be taking advantage of what the wind has to offer and hone the power that the wind has into usable energy. In fact, 11 cities are hoping that they would be able to soon install wind turbines to help them convert the wind’s power into usable energy.
If not for the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) project, these 11 cities may not have been this excited about such a project. The MMPA is actually an electricity cooperative that has goals of bringing in the benefits of wind power to ordinary residents. And …read more
