National Women’s Health and Fitness Week is tomorrow, September 27th and runs all this week until October 3rd. What can you do to celebrate? Here are five ideas:
Go For a Walk With Your Friend
There is no better way to stay fit than exercising with a friend. Friends help us to stay on track and also motivate us. Let your friend know about your exercise goals and it might help motivate her as well.
Make a Commitment to Eat Healthy This Week
For this week, focus on eating just a little bit healthier. Pay attention to our body …read more
Company Wellness Programs Get Tax Credits

I like the idea of more wellness programs as a way to combat health care costs. Why not focus on the positive, an encourage people to take better care of themselves rather than punish them for getting sick? Now, congress is “planning to give employers sweeping new authority to reward employees for healthy behavior, including better diet, more exercise, weight loss and smoking cessation.”
Employers will get tax credits and other incentives for offering federally approved wellness programs.
What do you think of this movement? Will healthier employees mean a healthier nation?

Menoupause Is The Word Of The Day
I suppose if even Rachael (do you ever let your guests speak? ) Ray is talking about menopause well then everyone must be.
There is one element of this fabulous change in direction in a woman’s life that people are familiar with…but don’t seem to dwell on.
Memory loss or scatter-brain-ness. (And I am just in the beginning stages, I think.)
It’s one thing when I’m standing alone in my pantry — wondering if I was supposed to be looking for an ingredient, or if I was supposed to go get the mail.
It’s quite another when this gem of a …read more
The Number 23 Can Ruin Your Day
I was thinking about Jim Carey’s new psychological thriller The Number 23
and just how silly spooky the idea is of a guy who becomes obsessed with a numeral.
I understand the movie is truly frightening…and let me tell you just how easily the number 23 showed up in my life today:
23 phone calls made to find a reputable woman’s health practitioner.
1:23pm was the time on the clock when I left for the appointment
23-freaking miles per hour — was the speed the old guy in the car in front of me was driving, as I traveled to the appointment
23 are the …read more
Hair Loss Could Mean Hormonal Imbalance
No woman wants to think about the big “M” – menopause…not only does it wreak havoc on our bodies, but it’s the one palpable symbol that we’re getting older.
Lately, I’ve been experiencing thinning hair, insomnia and some other strange changes in my overall health.
I chalked it up to stress and fatigue.
But I’ve also noticed that I’ve got the blues more often and more severely than I did when I was younger.
While a long-overdue visit to the Dr. for an exam is the most obvious solution, I began to search for sites that focus on hormonal imbalance and found Women …read more
