Women’s Business & Wellness Conference

Women have a unique lot in life, in that we tend to put a lot of people before ourselves. And if you’re a businesswoman, you probably put your career and business ahead of yourself too. That’s why nearly 200 women from Prince George’s County took some time out for a wellness conference. They wanted to refocus their energies back to themselves, at least for a day.
The conference included seminars, yoga classes, and massages. The large group also provided several “female entrepreneurs an opportunity to network and take a break from everyday stresses.”

Staying Lively Through Connecting with Friends

I went to a meeting yesterday with four of my old high school friends — girls I’ve known since elementary school, actually. We’re planning our 20th high school reunion, which will take place next summer (so now you know my age — no secrets, huh).
It was great to see these old friends. They know me — the way I used to be as a shy, awkward middle schooler, and now a late-30ish woman with a bit more worldly experience. We’re looking forward to connecting with our classmates, who are scattered all over the place.

Yearly Pap Smear for Cervical Cancer — Just Do It!

I lived through it, and I’m here to tell you, it wasn’t that bad.
What am I talking about? My annual check-up. It had somehow been two years since I’d been to my OB/GYN. I had scheduled an appt. last spring, and I had to cancel for some reason — then oops, time flew by. My doctor told me two years is not that bad — some women go even longer.
Ladies, we gotta do it. Sure, we can do our monthly breast exams at home, but it’s important to get an annual pap smear to help detect cervical and other types …read more
