As I was researching about the Barn Quilt project in Sac County, Iowa, I learned about the woodquilt business of the Wert family. It’s now owned and operated by a second generation of wooden quilt makers, David and Joannie Wert, who took over when David’s parents (John and Jewell, the originators) retired.
From them, you can learn more about wood quilts and acquire the readymade items or the materials for making your own. I also find theirs a fascinating story of turning one’s hobby or interest (Jewell’s folk art painting and craft business) into a much larger business.
