Hey Shredders, how is everyone doing?!?! I’m so excited that all of you are trying it with me, I think it’s really helping me stay on track. Keep the comments coming so we can see how everyone is doing. I tried the Level 2 this week and then went back to Level 1 on Friday. It was SO hard. Who is successfully doing all three levels every week? After day 2 I was actually afraid to even try Level 3. It doesn’t help that I’m battling a cold but even that may be an excuse. I was hoping that at this point I would be able to do it twice a day. Maybe Level 3 or 2 in the morning to start the day and then 1 in the evening to unwind. That is so not happening so a couple weeks in and I have had to adjust my expectations. Let’s keep at it.

As a sidenote, I got these a few months ago and then they got lost in the move. I finally found them and put them on to “shred” in the morning and they were so soft and comfortable. I then threw on a light t-shirt/hoodie thing and ran some errands. Typically I don’t wear exercise clothes out if I can help it but these actually looked presentable in a very casual type way. I didn’t feel too schlepy either. Well no more than I usually do. I highly recommend them.

Shoot me, shoot me now. I would do it myself but I’m too tired and my arms hurt. Kidding…mostly. This has been a rough week for sticking to the challenge. I didn’t even finish my 20 minutes yesterday. Like seriously, it’s ONLY 20 MINUTES. Exactly how lame does that make me? I often feel like caring for my toddler is like one extended work out session. Why on earth has my exhaustion not taken care of my ass situation, is my question. I just could not finish yesterday, I was not mentally able to push myself through it. I have not even attempted the next level. How is everyone else doing?

I am not down any pounds this week which is I guess okay since I’m not up either. The real lesson I have learned this week is that I cannot do the 30 Day Shred when the bug is around as that makes the workout exponentially more difficult. Not that watching an almost two year old try to do sit-ups isn’t HILARIOUS. The problem is every time I go to do the floor work he sits on me and ladies I am no Rocky Balboa. Push-ups with someone sitting on your back may look cool in the movies but is so not cool in reality. Hence my crazy sore arms, courtesy of my very cute 27 pound trainer.

I’m still mostly pumped, just a little more beaten down than last week. Hopefully I will start the Stroller Strides next week so wish me fortitude. Please share your progress with me, I love hearing how people are coming along.

So how’s everyone (all what, 4 of us) doing with the 30 Day Shred Challenge? I have soooo not wanted to do it this week as I have been having my lady time, you know my lady time.

So how’s everyone (all what, 4 of us) doing with the 30 Day Shred Challenge? I have soooo not wanted to do it this week as I have been having my lady time, you know my lady time. They say that exercise is good for you during these times but I just couldn’t summon the energy to actually put on pants and leave the house. So I gave myself yesterday off and of course Mother’s Day because honestly 40 weeks of swollen cankles has GOT to be worth one day of rest. Today was my first day back in the program and it actually did make me feel better not worse. Since I was up and felt motivated I even walked to the park.

So the big news is that I was in “Sell your soul to the devil R’ Us” over the weekend and they had a representative from Stroller Strides there. Stroller Strides is a great program that gets moms out with the kiddos to exercise and mingle with other moms. I filled out a little card for a raffle they were having and guess what? I WON. One full month of thrice weekly classes. Awesome, no? I never win anything. I’m really excited because basically all you need is a stroller and to show up. Hmm let me see, I can do that. The outdoor classes are 75 minutes, three times a week. That’s a serious workout but I think I can handle it. I will keep you guys updated. I have to take the classes now is the only catch. If I had my druthers I would wait until the end of our challenge but I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Has anyone tried Stroller Strides? Please tell me what to expect.

A big part of getting in shape is having the right equipment and gear. An unsupportive sports bra or shorts that keep riding up can ruin a workout. If you are doing any kind of serious running, you should replace your shoes every 300-550 miles. I have a good friend who is an avid runner and ends up replacing hers about every two months.
Check out Nike or World Shoe Relief for info on how to recycle your old running shoes. So I put together my summer must have list. There’s no reason to stay inside like a hermit when the weather turns nice. But you simply must have the right gear and accessories.

Silhouette short pants from Jackie Warner. Not shorts but not pants either. Perfect for someone who doesn’t want to have their thighs exposed (me) but needs something cooler.

Women’s crest hoodie also from Jackie Warner is calling to me. I love hoodies but they are too thick to wear in the summer. This is a great thin, short-sleeved alternative. It has cute little pockets and is nice enough to run errands in after you run.

Champion’s Underwire Sport Tank Top is great for low impact exercise. I wish I had had this on when I went to my yoga class. It keeps everything in and give you a little support without the additional layer. It would also be great for Pilates.

Henna practice rug from Barefoot Yoga Co. is perfect for your morning sun salutations. Great for use on decks and patios. Taking your practice outdoors when the weather is nice is a must. It holds up to the elements and is easily tucked away.

New Balance WT800 is absolutely the best trail running shoe ever. Okay maybe not the best ever but certainly the best I have tried. It’s perfect for uneven and rocky terrain. I also think they’re pretty cute.

What are some of your must-haves? Do share, please.
