OR you can just mingle and see what the gym is all about and scope out some hotties. You can even take a group class…for free. It says open for “any and all to workout”, which I take to mean free pass yo! I guess you would have to actually go in to see what the catch is. It sound like an awesome way to meet new people and do something besides scarfing down food and/or alcohol after work. If I was single I would so be there. That and midnight yoga that they have here. Sounds sexy and fun. But I am not single and my happy hour consists of making dinners that can be produced during the course of one episode of Dora (that evil cow).

Has anyone checked this out yet? I’d really like to hear about it. If you sign up online you can get a one day guest pass for free so it might be worth it to see what the fuss is all about.

Okay, I’ll admit it: I’m in a bit of a slump, but nothing major. Here’s the story: I just switched from NY to VT on my way to Miami. Putting my stuff in storage was a mess, I have animals that freak out when we do anything different, and I have a very tight schedule. So when I moved back, I ran into a tight spot: I have no gym to speak of, and while I had thought that the woods would be a great place to exercise, I sort of forgot what it’s like to crash through the woods: [...]
Post from: Blisstree

Okay, I’ll admit it: I’m in a bit of a slump, but nothing major. Here’s the story: I just switched from NY to VT on my way to Miami. Putting my stuff in storage was a mess, I have animals that freak out when we do anything different, and I have a very tight schedule. So when I moved back, I ran into a tight spot: I have no gym to speak of, and while I had thought that the woods would be a great place to exercise, I sort of forgot what it’s like to crash through the woods: not so nice. Paired with a ridiculous amount of rain, I’m just a little bit scared right now.

With the outdoor workout not going too well, I’m switching over to the gym again. I feel like I failed a tad with all my summer exercise plans, but the gym is better than nothing. I guess I’m not an outdoors girl like I thought I was. . . Sigh.

What’s your top “motivation tip”? I need it to get going! What inspires you, what keeps you going, and– most importantly– what is a good way to help someone who needs an e-boost?!

Since the weather is so nice right now, I keep trying to come up with things that we can do outside that also involve some type of physical activity. Recently the family and I went to a resort hotel place and they offered rentals for lots of fun stuff like mountain boards and recumbent bicycles. I was able to try the recumbent bike for about and hour and OMG, I am in love. At first it was really difficult for me to grasp because you steer with your back and hips and I kept trying to sit up to go in the direction I wanted to go. You would think I was more coordinated than that but no. If these things weren’t so gosh darn expensive I would get one in a second.

It was such a great workout for my abs, shoulders and legs. I could totally see myself taking a long ride on a weekend along the lakefront. Ahh, if only. Technically I believe what I rode is called a recumbent trike because it had three wheels instead of two. Just looking around it would run me about 2-3 grand. I’m sorry but that is WAY out of my price range for recreational equipment. I think a good in between would be a recumbent exercise bike. I’ve used them in the past and while definitely a workout, it has never worked my abs the way the trike did. Additionally just getting out in the world makes it a lot more interesting and makes the time pass more quickly. Has anyone tried a recumbent bike or trike before? I soooo want one, so please tell me if you have one and how you like it.

Yesterday marked the completion of my 30 day Shred Challenge and I wanted to share the results with you all. I am so happy about all the people who decided to join in with me. I have to tell you that it made me feel like I had support. So the stats. Total weight loss…I have no idea. I lost track because of the flu and a few of those lost pounds can be attributed to illness. Anyway I try not to be concerned with the number on the scale since it’s about how I feel and how my clothes fit. So how are my clothes fitting, you ask? I’m down a size. A FULL SIZE. Hello, that’s pretty awesome. The pants that I could not even button a month ago are now making my ass look totally hot. Alright maybe not but at least I can get them on comfortably.

I have to hand it to Jillian Michaels, she has created a really great workout that is both manageable and torturous at the same time. I do think that the intensity of the workouts makes it hard to keep nit up so while I will continue to use it, it won’t be every day. I’m aiming for twice a week now especially since the weather is nice. So everyone please comment with your results if you’ve completed your 30 days as well.

We”ll keep doing updates until everyone has finished their 30 Days. I’ve only been an intermittent fan of The Biggest Loser but doing this challenge really gives me some perspective on what the contestants go through. Imagine what several hours every day for months of intensive Jillian Michael’s torture could do for you.

So I wanted to open the forum for people to comment about what gets them motivated to actually get up and work out. I have to say it’s been really trying making myself continue with this. I have to play mind tricks with myself and set-mini goals like, counting to a certain number before I will allow myself to rest. Here are a few from Discovery Health. What sorts of tricks do you have to get motivated? Let us all share and see if some new tips might work for you.

Unfortunately I’m still battling the neverending flu but I’m trying to hang in there. How is everyone doing on the 30 Day Challenge? I haven’t been able to do it more than twice in the last week and a half so I’m feeling pretty bad about that but what can you do? I wanted to share a recipe with you however that I found to be energizing and filling. I love smoothies because I hate making breakfast so this is a good way to get something in my stomach with little effort. I just used things I had on hand and both my son and I loved it.

You can adjust the ingredients to your liking but I used 1/4 cup of cantaloupe, 1/4 cup of honeydew melon, handful of baby spinach leaves, juice from one lime and about three ice cubes. We’ve been keeping a bog container of cubed melon in the refrigerator lately because the bug loves it and it’s a great snack. The spinach adds great nutrients but you can’t even taste it. Throw it all in the blender and blend until it’s smooth and creamy.

This would also make a really delicious and refreshing post-workout refresher. Or even a pre-workout energizer. What are some of your favorite healthy, weight loss smoothie concoctions?
