Pearl Harbour Memories

I was inspired to find a great journal writing prompt over at Quilting & Patchwork about Memories of Pearl Harbor Day. Take the time to read the blog entry and if you are old enough to have memories about this day, please, write them down. I love the idea of memory quilts, too, but such memories should be written down for others to learn from. If you aren’t old enough to have memories of this day speak to someone in your family that does. Offer to help them write these down so their view on this day in history will …read more

The Remembering Site

I just found this great website for those interested in writing their memoirs. It’s called The Remembering Site. Sarah McCue tells How it all Started and answers Frequently Asked Questions on the website.
You can read What People are Saying, Featured Biographies or sign up for their Newsletter. There are also Questions, or prompts, to help get you writing and remembering, which I think is an excellent place to start. For more you’ll need to Join, which will cost you $25 as one time payment.
Check out Sarah’s blog where she explains even more about The Remembering Site.

Courtney Love

While driving home this afternoon from a visit to the library I had a local radio station on and heard a snippet of news about Courtney Love’s forthcoming memoir. After a little online search I came across the title Dirty Blonde : The Diaries of Courtney Love on Amazon. The book won’t be released until October 31, 2006. Read a news story here for more information.

Memory Triggers

If you’re writing your memoir, or just want some cool journal writing prompts, then make sure you check out Memory Triggers.
Bob Wendlinger promotes his book, The Memory Triggering Book, by offering a taster on his website with these journal writing prompts.
I tried the sampler and found some excellent prompts to use in my journal writing. I hope you enjoy them, too.

Write Your Memoirs & Soon

Memoirs make entertaining reading, but I agree with this article at the Daily Herald. A full life makes for a more in depth read than a fresher life with less to share. I hope more people approaching their senior years begin to pen memoirs and journals so their stories pass on to younger generations.
