I made a colossal dating mistake. Learn from me!

Image via WikipediaOkay, so I meet this guy on Yahoo! Personals and he’s kind of cute. He’s a big guy, you know… which I tend to gravitate towards, because 1) I don’t like skinny guys. 2) I like guys who are at least my size or bigger, or somehow make me feel smaller. It’s one of those “protective” type attraction things I think. But anyway, he’s cute. Pretty eyes, nice face, and so on.
So we finally get chatting on IM, and I learn that he works with two guys I know from the fire department. One of them is a …read more

Sidebar Poll: If you could pick one dating site to use, which would it be?

Image by d70focus via FlickrBegging and pleading, please answer the poll in the sidebar?
I’ll close out the poll on November 1st, but I’d really love your feedback on this. I’m personally partial to Yahoo! Personals and POF, but would love to see your choices, and then your comments in the post below as to what you chose and why!

If you could pick one dating site to use, which would it be?

eHarmony
Match
PlentyOfFish
True
Great Expectations
Yahoo! Personals
None – I think they all suck.

You can also add your own answer if you have another choice for a favorite.

5 Things that bug me about men’s online dating profiles.

Image by d70focus via FlickrOkay, so here’s a nice, neat little list of things that annoy me about some of the dating profiles I see on sites like PlentyOfFish and Match and Yahoo! Personals.

No photos. Bad photos. Photos only of a car with some figure standing by it that I can’t see. Photos of a man parasailing, with his body a shadow against the summer sun. Worse? A photo of you with another woman, and I don’t care if it’s your sister or cousin. I don’t care if you’ve cut her out of the pic, either. The bottom line guys …read more

The Evolution of Long-Distance Dating

It all started out with the old fashioned classifieds you’d see on newspapers then came personal ads on magazines. Two people would start corresponding through letters as “penpals”. Some may keep several penpals and others, one. Usually, when the relationship progresses, they’d eventually schedule a meet up or a visit to their respective homes.
With the birth of the internet, the complexity of writing and sending letters on parchment, and its seemingly inadequate offering of efficiency and “relationship” experience for the upwardly mobile, is simplified through the use of electronic mail. Moreover, classifieds are made available on the web, thus, making …read more

The Mia Bella Dating Blog

… brought to you by Yahoo! Personals.
It’s true! I’m not kidding. It really is a blog established with connection to the popular online personals and/or dating site.
In fact, it’s hosted by Todd, a site copywriter, though, we can also expect various voices from his colleagues along the way.
The Mia Bella Dating Blog is the off-shoot where we can all trade ideas, thoughts, and insights about this modern phenom called online dating. — Mia Bella
Interesting, eh?
There’s more — “…you can expect us to cover lots of issues that people have with their profile such as, “Where can I find good …read more

The Million Dollar Matchmaking Scam

Just how much are you willing to shell out to find a mate?
For the young and single seekers, the normal amount you spend on a dinner and drinks or perhaps a movie, is all that it takes. But what if you’re someone who’s been around the block? I mean, you’ve been married for decades and had children and even grandchildren and now divorced or widowed? Will dinner and movie dates be suficient enough?
I reckon it may be difficult to get into the dating scene again. Heck, it’s hard enough for singles to deal with dating, can you imagine how …read more
