I was snooping around my stats yesterday, wondering what people want to read from me – and I quickly glanced over the keywords section, thinking that people would be searching for things like the name of medications or something similar. I did find that, but it also surprised me what else brought people to my blog….so I came back for a second and third look.

Here are 10 “interesting” keyword searches that led people to CFS2.

Before I start, let me issue a warning. This post has everything to do with rodents – it is not a scientific experiment. I have no published data to back me up. This is a second hand rendition of an actual happening. This story belongs to a friend of mine, and I have been given permission to write it up.

When one lives in a apartment that is situated near a restaurant (either above it, or next door) – chances are at some point, you will have a problem with rodents. Even the cleanest of places will have this problem.

A friend of mine lives in one of these apartments – and has had a bit of a rodent problem. I am not sure the extent of the damage, but I do know that one mouse, is one mouse too many. It sounds like there are a few of them making themselves at home in his apartment.

The mice had gotten into the pantry, and gnawed their way through most of the cupboards – boxes, bags, and cans of food have been destroyed. These mice even got into the green tea. From what I understand, they ingested quite a lot of it.

Now here is where it gets interesting. Poison was laid out all over the apartment. But these mice didn’t die. The poison didn’t affect them. The poison was/is poisonous – believe me, there is proof on that. We believe that it’s the green tea that kept them alive – and happy. In case you are wondering, why it is we think this to be true – well the last word from the mice, was green.

I will be increasing my intake of green tea, from now on. I am on the Yerba Mate tea kick – which by the way, I am loving – but will be adding a cup or 2 of green tea, to my diet. If it can do that for mice, think what it can do for us!

My struggle to give up coffee has been well documented here. Hard as I try, I am just not able to give up the delicious energy nectar. My coffee intake has been reduced, but I am just fooling myself if I say that I can give it up entirely. It’s just not possible. Even if it puts me in financial ruin.
My struggle to give up coffee has been well documented here. Hard as I try, I am just not able to give up the delicious energy nectar. My coffee intake has been reduced, but I am just fooling myself if I say that I can give it up entirely. It’s just not possible. Even if it puts me in financial ruin. I am down to about 1.5 largish cups of coffee a day – pretty good for me.

However, I am still really tired all the time, I am in a definite need of a pick me up these days. Tiredness is contagious, and when you work in an office…you can quickly “infect” your co-workers with malaise. Thats how dynamic I am…I can actually put people to sleep. Enough of that!

Anyway, my acupuncturist has been singing the praises of Yerba Mate tea for the past month. He insists that it will be “energizing” and it is a much more natural way to get caffeine into my body. I finally broke down last night, and bought some. Will let you know if he is correct.

In my research of Yerba Mate tea, this is what I have uncovered (via wikipedia)

The flavor of brewed yerba mate is strongly vegetal, herbal, and grassy, reminiscent of some varieties of green tea. Many consider the flavor to be very agreeable, but it is generally bitter if steeped in boiling water, so is made using hot but not boiling water. Unlike most teas, it does not become bitter and astringent when steeped for extended periods, and the leaves may be infused several times. Additionally, one can purchase flavored mate in many varieties.

It is slightly less potent stimulant than coffee and much gentler on the stomach. Drinking mate with friends from a shared hollow gourd with a metal straw is an extremely common social practice in Argentina.

I love that its such a social activity! I love tea time, and now I actually have an excuse to drink a good for me tea (sans scones). Why does sipping yerba mate tea through a metal straw make me think of opium and hookah?
