27 Money Tips for College Students

I was surfing today and there’s one article I read about 27 money related tips for college students. Some of this I bet you already know but it needs to be reinforced.

A lot of the tips in the article is still applicable even if you’re in you 30s or 40s. Example.

Avoid non-academic debt. It might seem like a good idea to put that Xbox on a credit card, but it’s not. Focus on developing good money skills with cash. Worry about credit later.

I was passing by a store today that sells those nice looking LCD TVs. I really like to have one but I would rather use the money for paying debts or investing it. The offer was very enticing though. They’re selling this 32in LCD TV and they’ll send you a free 20in LCD TV.

Deep inside, I was thinking, this would be perfect. We have an old 21 inch TV and my computer monitor is one of those 17″ CRT monitors. The 32in LCD TV will replace our old 21 in TV and then I can use the 20″ LCD TV to replace my monitor. I was ready to put in on my credit card but fortunately, my logical mind kicks in telling me to think it over a couple of days.

Most of the time, buying is an emotional experience more than a logical one. You decide you wanted to buy something and then think of all sorts of logical reasons why you should buy it.

Although the offer is good, I really don’t need it (but I wanted it). I can live with our existing TV and computer monitor for now and just work on increasing income to buy these “toys”.

There’s lots more tips in that article. Check it out here and see if you can find something applicable to you.
