To me, the pleasure of making food from scratch has nothing to do with frugality. It has everything to do with preparing some wonderful foods for my loved ones. Knowing that my family is eagerly awaiting Christmas so they can each get a load of my famous zucchini bread or peanut butter cookies is the biggest compliment any one can give. I think anyone can buy a tin of chocolate chip cookies, it takes someone special to whip up a batch from scratch. With that, I give you:

Well, I haven’t had dinner yet so just about the whole list looks good to me. Maybe not the brandy. I do make a lot of these items from scratch; but tonight I will be having wholesome not from scratch cereal. Quick, easy, pretty much good enough.
mmmm..homemade peanut butter…It is the BEST.
Great list Deb! I love things from scratch. My husband and I were watching the Food Network last night (not a good idea right before bed!) and there’s this one restaurant that grinds their own whole wheat flour and then makes all kind of delicious pancakes. Yum!
I am trying very hard to become thrifty, especially in the food arena. There are some wonderful things here, especially the taco shells/tortillas. I’ve been looking for one.
This is loosely related to your list of things you can make: baking powder. No, you don’t want to give it as a Christmas present, but it will help you make all those goodies that you CAN give as presents! LOL
The recipe is simple and is on my blog.
