If you are tired of hearing your mom or your wife grumbling whenever they learn about how high the phone service bill become month after month after month, it’s high time to tell her about these tips and, of course, apply them yourself to help her.

Phone Bill Saving1. Know your calling pattern.
Review your bills regularly to know which numbers you often call. Then, ask your phone service company if they can offer you any service package or bundle with services that you can maximize with regards to your calling habits. Also, get rid of the services that you are not using regularly to save money. If you track your calling pattern, you will also know whether you’re better off with a pre-paid phone service or a post-paid one.

2. Avoid the smooth phone operator. Asking to be assisted by an operator could cost you a lot more than using direct dial.

3. Know about your phone service company’s off-peak periods and call during those times.

4. Don’t allow your guests or neighbors to make personal long distance phone calls unless it’s for an emergency, of course.

5. If you’re using a phone card, check its expiry date and any hidden fees it comes with.

6. If you can, go pure mobile. This can be very helpful with your aim to save money if you find the best cell phone service plan for you. And, don’t forget to monitor your cell phone service bill to see whether you are paying for some services such as MMS, ringtone downloads, etc., that you are not even using or downloading.

7. Skype it. This is a software application that allows free Skype-to-Skype calls. If you wish to call landlines, you will only pay a small amount. As long as you have high-speed Internet connection, you’re good to call, er, go. If you want to know more about free video calls, ABC News has a lot to offer.

If you’d like to learn more about how to save on your phone bills in your home and office, there’s a free e-book to help.
