A Big Waste of Money

Have you ever tried a new recipe and it wasn’t edible? I tried a new casserole recipe tonight for my family. No one ate the casserole. It looked disgusting. I’m pretty annoyed at the wasted ground beef and bacon, the time to cook and prepare the food, plus the cost of heating my oven. If you dare, take a look at this picture.

I got this recipe from a well-known website. I won’t cause them any problems by putting a link in here. Anyway, I just wanted to rant a bit about this “7 layer casserole”.

Ok, that looks disgusting. Ick. I want to read the recipe just to see what in the world that is!?
Wow. I don’t think I’d eat that either. No offense to you, as it’s not your recipe.

It is rice, corn, ground beef, and canned diced tomatoes. The topping is bacon and cheese. I guess I thought it was going to be like a shepherd’s pie. The ground beef was supposed to be raw when you put it in the casserole. I think that’s where it all went wrong. The texture of the meat looked horrible.
P.S. Thankfully I had cooked a yummy french onion soup for hubby and me. So we had soup. I was able to cook the kids some sausage and eggs real quick so that they wouldn’t be upset.
Ewww… raw beef into a casserole? It all sounds fine until you get to that part.
That looks like !@*# in a pyrex dish.
I hate it when that happens. I am going to try to attempt a cake for a birthday present. Hope I have better luck.
What’s that? Even looks ugly! Thank God you had some alternative arrangement.
I’ve done that quite a few times. I HATE it when that happens. I like trying new things but….
I tried putting raw chicken in a casserole once. Um, ewww! I had to throw the whole thing out. It specifically said “uncooked chicken” but I’m telling you. It was rubbery. Ick!
