A Valentine’s Ode to My Cheap Husband

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I love you dearly
Even when the thermostat is set at 52.
We don’t go out to dinner
or take in a show,
but we visit the library
to save on dough.
We’re saving so much money
by doing it ourselves,
That’s why we have no paint on our walls
or bedroom shelves.
You don’t buy diamonds
or a vase filled with blooms
They’re just not practical
like my crock pot or the sheets for our room.
I love how you look out for us
and make sure we save,
Even if you won’t open your wallet
to buy what I crave.
Happy Valentines day to my husband
my love for you is deep,
And you will continue to be mine
even though you’re so cheap.

Too cute! Great job! Are you gonna let him read it? lol
LOL. Wonder what the hubby says about this? Will share this with a friend. Hehe.
That’s too cute! Very clever!
Heh. Not sure yet if I’m showing this one to hubby. He gets a little sensitive sometimes.
Love it, thank you for writing it, I let mine read it and then said WELL.
Ouch! But at the same time LOL! Sadly, that could have been written to me too.
Too fun! I love it. I wish I had the gift of rhyme. I can read Dr. Seuss out loud and that’s frankly it. Great post.
I think I married his brother.
lol that was great!
I am 59 years old and have been married for 43 years. I just love your sense of humor!!! And, isn’t it the truth!
Hahaha, this is great. I love it.
Oh my goodness! Thanks for the laugh!!!!
I love it. I should write one for myself. I am about that cheap…that’s why I started working online . Maybe now I will suck it up and buy a valentine’s gift.
remember, on feb. 15 all the candy will be 1/2 off and will still taste as sweet as it did the day before!
I have to say, Mr. Ng is a very good sport. He loved this poem.
Thanks for all the positive remarks. This is my first foray into the world of blog poetry.
I loved it! You said it all!
I was brought here by Heather Goldsmith’s blog. I read this to my mom and sister and we all were laughing.
