I love Consumer Reports; along with CNET, it’s one of my top go-to places when I’m looking for a specific product review.
In any case, a while back (lordy, in November) I got a heads up about the Consumer Reports, sister site, Shop Smart. I just found that email (bad me) but figured I’d post about it, because it’s a very useful site if you like to shop. It’s also useful if like me, you don’t love to shop, but when you have to, you like to save money.
Shop Smart, as you might imagine, offers smart shopping tips. BUT unlike many sites or articles, they’re not aiming to sell you stuff. It’s an ad-free experience, which makes this a very cool site indeed.
You’ll see handy in-depth articles (in pdf form) like…
- Shopping secrets that can save you hundreds
- The best store credit cards
- Web sites that can save you big
- Easy fixes for 21 home dangers
- Sex & spending
- And more.
All the articles are targeted at specific DIY cures for common household problems, insider tips for being a smart shopper, or how to save on a specific product. No flash, no ads, no muck to wade through, just helpful tips. As someone who works online, and also frequents many a shopping site herself, I have to say this site is such a nice break from the typical. You’ll love it.
