Baby Shower gifts on a budget.

It seems to me that there are a lot of pregnant women out there.  In my church alone, there were 15 pregnant women due in the first 8 months of 2006.  That is a lot of baby showers.  The good thing is I am not invited to all of them.  But I do have 4 baby showers coming up that I know of and hopefully 2 more coming soon.  My favorite thing to shop for is baby shower gifts.  I tend to spend way too much on these events.  But I have developed a system.  There are certain things like generic gas drops, infant Tylenol, diapers, and wipes that I usually give routinely.  I know, they aren’t cute gifts but they are very useful.  Anyway, I start buying as soon as I find out that a friend is pregnant.  That way, I can get nice things and don’t have to take a big hit if I waited to get all of it at once.  I currently have 2 boxes going now.  Ok, I admit I am weird but it is fun to me to buy for others on a budget.  See you at the next baby shower.

  1. I agree. To give practical gifts like generic gas drops, infant Tylenol, diapers, and wipes are best. Those are actually the things that I appreciate the most. A lot more than those cutesie stuff that, more often than not, I can do without.

I used to give the cute stuff until I had a baby. I loved all the cute stuff I got at my showers, don’t get me wrong. But I also know how much I appreciated the practicle stuff as well. I just didn’t realise how soon I would need the medicines or the gas drops!

Well, great gifts does not have to be very expensive.
