Book Swapping Web Sites

Book Swapping Web SitesI love books. If it wasn’t for the Internet, I would have had to have opened my own used book store to feed my reading jones. Here’s another cool idea for those of you out there who suffer from a similar affliction.

Nigel at the Red Ferret Journal recently pointed out a book swapping service in the UK and it reminded me of a couple that I had seen over here on this side of the pond.

The one that Nigel mentions is called Read It Swap It! (www.readitswapit.co.uk) and while there’s nothing on the site that says it’s restricted to folks in the UK, I don’t imagine you’d get many potential swappers willing to pay the postage if you’re too far from there.

In terms of those couple of swapping sites that I recalled for those of us over here in North America, the first is called SwapSimple (www.swapsimple.com) and while it also features DVD and video game swapping, the service is restricted to those in the US. They also charge $2 for each item swapped plus the shipping.

The other one that I’m aware of is called TitleTrader (www.titletrader.com) and features books, DVD’s, VHS tapes, music CD’s and magazines. No fees here for the basic service and they work on a credit system. There doesn’t appear to be any location restrictions, so folks like me up here in Canada can go play.

Browsing through what’s available at each of these sites, the selection seems to be fairly extensive. Anyone know of other web-based trading and swapping resources?

    Bookins – http://www.bookins.com – is also good.

  2. A new swap site has just gone live- http://www.eswapnow.com. It allows you to swap books, dvds, cds, vhs and games and works on a credit system. You get a credit as soon as you join and when anyone requests your tiems.
The best thing is that unlike some other sites you dont have to find someone who wants what you have got and vice-versa. It is a library system. You can request any item (if you have points) and anyone can request your items. Over 3.000 items online! Happy swapping! Mike
