Defeat Time Stealers

Well, it’s Monday . . . my day off from my preschool job. I try to schedule all of our appointments on Mondays. It just makes more sense for me to do most of my driving during one day to save on gas and time. Today we had two doctor’s appointments scheduled, but the eye doctor just called and cancelled at the last minute because his wife is sick. I hope everything is ok. Either she’s really, really sick or he has to take care of the kids.
Anyway, our recent cancellation has afforded me a few moments to let you know about Mommy, Inc., a site I am recently enjoying. This entrepreneur mom was once a TV and newspaper journalist. She now works from home and shares ways to save money and time. I’ve enjoyed her make ahead recipes. She has one for chicken and broccoli with pesto. Geez, I wish my husband liked pasta.
Here’s a recent posting I thought you might enjoy, Hints to Defeat the Time Stealers. These are some of my favorite tips:
- Stop procrastinating. There really is no time like the present. It’s easier to write than do, but it is possible change one’s approach to dealing with tasks and make procrastination a thing of the past. If you need to break the habit of procrastination, you will need to change the way you think about tasks and also begin to build the skills that will make projects seem less complex or unpleasant.
- Not enough time off. To be truly effective, you need to step back and re-energize yourself. Many people try to do more and more, thinking this proves their efficiency. But in reality, excessive busy-ness reduces productivity and distracts you from focusing on what is most important.
