Don’t forget to ask this year

Turkey Butt wants a Chou Chou doll for Christmas. This is the first year that she has actually asked for one consistent thing for Christmas. So I found the Chou Chou doll at Wal-Mart for $30 and told my mom to get it . The problem was that the price was actually $40. That was ridiculous. Mom called me from Wal-mart and said her Wal-Mart had it for $40. I thought mine had it for $30 so I told her I would get it here and she could pay me back. Then she called me back and said that she had asked the manager if she could have it for $30 and the manager gave it to her. I couldnt’ believe it! Especially since I went back and found that my Wal-Mart had it for $40.
The moral of the story here is not to be afraid to ask for a cheaper price. I have always been a proponent of trying to negotiate a cheaper price. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But trying is always worth it. In this case, from a store that NEVER negotiates, my mom saved $10. The state of the economy has most retailers wondering about he bottom line this year. Make them give you a better deal than what is posted! You work hard for your money and most things are over priced any way. I never would have paid $40 for a doll. $30 from a grandparent is a tad more tolerable.

Wow… $40 for a doll… I don’t think I’ve ever had something that small that cost that much except my Build-a-bear that I got on my honeymoon, and my engagement ring! I’m just in shock at how much things cost these days!
Until now, I had never heard of a Chou Chou doll. What is so special about the doll?
