I love this from About Frugal Living – a sweater bag! Erin Huffstetler offers a detailed and illustrated tutorial for making this fabulous bag. The best part? Anyone can do it.
I have a couple of sweaters that are outdated that I can’t bear to throw away. This bag offers the perfect solution…and it would make a great gift too!

I love the sweater bag in the photo! Very cute. I make bags out of old stuff too but sweaters are a great idea. Bulky and what not. Unless you have ugly sweaters although then I guess we have a whole other issue on our hands.
I love that! I have made diaper covers/soakers out of wool sweaters but Kyrie is past the diaper stage..that is awesome!
I’m about to embark on this very project, too!
I don’t have an old sweater that would work but I think I’ll buy one from Goodwill and give it a try! Pam, South Bend
I’ve done this for years. I didn’t know anyone else did! Of course I wasn’t really trying to save money. Usually this happens when I have a favorite sweater that gets too old or too small and I can’t bear to part with it. But it sure does save a lot of money, and then I know I’ll get a purse I like.
That’s the coolest bag! And I love that you can use recycled materials to make it. Gotta love unique accessories. I made a purse out of cutoff jeans before, and it was very simple.
