Dryer Sheets: More Uses than You Know

If you’re into saving money, you probably already know buying a large box of generic dryer sheets from Walmart is less expensive than buying a large bottle of liquid fabric softener. Did you also know those dryer sheets do more than just make clothes soft and smell good? Here are a few unconventional uses for dryer sheets:
- Place in closets and drawers to “freshen” clothes.
- Use to dust furniture and pick up pet hair. They make great dust cloths and cut down on static cling.
- Place in the car to keep it smelling fresh.
- Wipe shower walls and doors to prevent soap scum buildup.
- Hang from your backpack or belt loop while hiking to repel mosquitoes and other pests.
Dryer sheets work best to eliminate static cling. Rub along clothes, television and computer screens and anywhere pet hair tends to collect. Here’s another money saving tip: cut dryer sheets in half before using. They’ll last twice as long!
I don’t use dryer sheets, as we hang our laundry to dry (and I am allergic to the perfumes they put in the dryer sheets- ah choo!) BUT…. we do keep a container of baby wipe sheets in the car, and I wash and re-use the little cloths after we’ve used them.
They are great in the studio for cleaning paint off paint brushes.
A friend of mine absolutely loves dryer sheets, as she does all kinds of artie things with them by melting, stitching etc
