Five simple ways to save money at work

Working, while meant to make you $ can actually cost you a lot. Luckily it’s easy to save money with some simple tips..

save-money-at-work1. Take your lunch – I think eating out with co-workers is what cost me the most when I was working out of the house. Make a goal to only eat out once in a while so you can socialize vs. each day. It’s easier if you get everyone else on board because then people will stay at work and eat with you.

2. Get some essential clothing that match – for a job where you have to dress up gather some essentials in basic colors that you can mix and match. Women can often find really good stuff at consignment shops too – there’s less for men that’s work-friendly at thrift stores but you can still check.

3. Car-pool or take public transportation – this can save on wear and tear on your car plus you’re not the only one paying for gas.

4. Work close to home – my sister spent the last two years commuting about 1 hour to work IF there was no traffic. Her gasoline costs were insane, and worse, she was wasting so much time. Working close to home can save you big time.

5. See if you can snag corporate discounts – often larger companies will offer huge savings on goods and services from other companies. In fact if you work for the right place you can get discounts there. For example, my pal fixes computers for a major grocery chain here in the NW and he gets big ol’ discounts at the store. See other ways your company can save you money.
