Free Concerts: An Enjoyable Way to Spend the Evening

My family spent Saturday evening having a picnic dinner on the lawn of the local middle school. There was a free concert to be followed by fireworks. The different acts were entertaining, there was a rock band, a high school band and lots of oldies and dance music. My husband and son tossed a football around while I read a book and enjoyed the music. Now tell me if you can think of a more enjoyable way to spend a summer evening?
I am really looking forward to my daughter getting to the age where we can do more things like this. Right now she can’t sit still for any length of time (18 mo), but it will be a great thing to do as a family when she gets a little older!
