Gardening Weekend

Sunflower

In addition to going to parades and picnics, this is my gardening weekend. Well, most weekends in the summer involve gardening, but this is a big one. I have five yards of mulch in my driveway that need to be spread out – my son will be so disappointed. He thinks it’s a climbing pile – plus I have several flats of annuals that my husband and son gave me for Mother’s Day that need to go into the ground. My son has been wanting to grow sunflowers so we’ll be planting those too.

I just love watching a garden progress throughout the summer. Watching the flowers bloom and grow is especially rewarding, plus the strawberries will be ready to come in within the next week or so and the broccoli is looking good too.

Though gardening is considered “work” I find it a relaxing work I enjoy – and watching it flourish is like the gift that keeps on giving.

Ohhh Yeahhh, it’s gardening weekend here too. We have a truck load of mulch to shovel, several flats of plants (some I raised, and some heirlooms from the local garden center), and I still have some seeds I need to get in the garden. Can’t afford the gas to go anywhere, so I may as well stay home and work in the garden:)

I hear that, Linette. And my son loves gardening. I harvest my marigold seeds every year and give him paper cups full to plant anywhere he wants. We never know where they’re going to pop up!

I really do enjoy gardening weekend!
