Get Green Points with Your Reusable Bags

I was at Lowe’s Foods the other day and noticed they have Earth Saver bags for .99 or you can get them for free by spending your green points. I think the cost of each bag (with green points) was 1200 points.
I purchased one bag with my green points and then I found out that for each bag you use, Lowe’s Foods will give you 50 points per bag each time you use it!!!!
I was surprised with how big and sturdy the green bag was. It wasn’t one of those cheap bags where the seams come apart after you’ve used it a few times. I was really impressed with how large this bag was, in comparison with other bags I’ve seen. This one stands up on it’s own and it holds 2-3 times the amount of plastic grocery bags.
The next time I went to Lowe’s, I purchased another reusable bag. Since I used both bags, I earned another 100 points. I think I will purchase another bag or two the next time I shop there. I probably need 5-6 bags so that I can quit using these silly plastic bags. Speaking of which, I have another huge load of them to recycle. I’m so sick of these thin plastic bags. Hopefully, I won’t have to use them much longer.
Another great thing about these bags is that you can use them for other things besides groceries. I’m using mine this week on a trip to my parent’s house. They’re holding dvds, snacks, toys, and other things we need. As I said before, I like them because they stand up on their own. No more digging through tote bags in the car that are all flopped over. I can put these in the seat or the floor and we can see what we need.
Have you tried these bags? What do you think of them?

So smart! Thanks for doing your part…I just wrote about how I made my own re-usable produce bag. The first one was not my favorite, but I guess it’s a work in progress. I don’t like plastic bags in general, but the produce ones are not useful for anything!! Glad to see others are thinking about things like this!
I love my reusable bags and I feel really proud toting them around too. We use our bags for our trips to the library and when we go on day trips for the family. I have a little foldable set for my purse (for those quick trips) and then I keep a strong sturdy set in my trunk for the big grocery day.
Great topic!!
I love my reusable bags! The only problem is that I need to find some that are free from store logos, so I can use them everywhere.
We bought a couple of (similar) bags from Whole Foods Market about a year ago, and have been using them since.
I admit, we could probably use a couple more, but I like to get the additional (usually 1) paper bag as well, because I use that for gathering our paper recycling.
I’ve been using my canvas bags since I started collecting the plastic bags & taking them back when I have a full bag. I noticed how often I have to take a full bag in.
I hope more stores will start rewarding customers for reusing bags.
We got several of the reusable bags at trader joes and use them all the time. It makes you feel like you are making a difference.
Wow, that’s a great system.
We use a normal bag for our groceries, so we don’t need the plastic ones.
No extra points though.

Have a great week and an amazing spring!!!
Converting to reusable bags is on my list of things to do. So far I haven’t come across any that are as big as I’d like, though. I’ll keep looking. We don’t have a Lowe’s Foods near us, or I’d look there!
i need to search my lowes and find those because i haven’t seen them there! and i think i have enough greenpoints for a couple of them.
kroger bags are the same price and they give you rewards points for using them too
Want to crochet your own reusable bag? It’s lots of fun, frugal, and of course eco-friendly. I have free patterns and tutorials on how to make grocery totes and purses from recycled plastic bags if you’d like to take a look.
