save money on electricity billA new technology is on the rise. With the rising demand for energy partnered by increasing energy costs, technology companies have come up with a smart way to control excessive and unnecessary use of electricity.

With the money saving ’smart agents’, homes would be able to maximize their savings on electric consumption. The smart agent is truly an innovative product that would help utilities and home owners alike reduce electric uses.

You might probably ask, what is a smart agent? Smart agents are small gadgets, about the size of the Treo that are installed at strategic corners of the house.

It is smart in the sense that a controlling central programmer dictates the use of energy and centralized air conditioning. For example, temperature is forecast by the weather bureau to drop by 3 pm.

By 3pm, the smart agents would automatically shut down or lower the air conditioning function at houses.

The smart agent would also automatically shut down electric devices that are of no use, or have been forgotten to be shut down by owners. Power supply interruptions would also be controlled, as utility firms would be able to shut down electricity temporarily at households with no occupants during a day, or during times the family is not within the house.

This amazing technology is currently used initially in Australia. But with the growing concern for all households worldwide to save on energy costs, it would be no wonder if the smart agents would be very much popular within a few year’s time.
