Thrifty Mommy

Gift giving on a budget.

I am a shopper just in case you can’t tell. I love to shop but don’t like to separate from my money. I also know my family laughs at me every June because I start shopping for Christmas. There are 3 grandparents, 3 sets of parents, 9 siblings, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, and close friends between my DH and myself. I simply can’t afford buying for everyone and the ones I do buy for don’t get expensive gifts anymore. We also will have to buy for our little girl this year. Last year we bought her diapers. Poor girl! I also pride myself in giving unique gifts that I don’t spend a lot of money on. I think my stats last year were 28 gifts for around $500. That included my DH and daughter. I try my best to put away a little money each month and refuse to pay anything but cash for gifts.

Frugal Living has some great ideas for unique gifts that don’t cost a ton. My favorites were splitting a plant and give that or personalize a calendar on your computer. I think I want to do the calendar for one of my people on my list this year. Should be interesting since my computer skills aren’t the best. I’m still learning. Let me know what you think and if you have a favorite.
