Good buys for August

Happy August thrifty folks!
You should always, always, shop around; no matter how good you think a seasonal buy might be. However, there are a few things that tend to be a good buy in August.
Building and handyperson supplies: People start home building and other home-based projects at the start of summer; not at the end. This might be a good time to pick up lumber for a new fence, hit the building restore shop, or get the supplies for a new home project.
Summer toys: Water toys, camping gear, bubble wands, and more all go on sale in August to clear out space for the upcoming autumn and winter items. If the kids begged all summer for a slip-n-slide or inflatable pool, you could buy one now and one, have a little time left with it, and two, have it for next year.
School supplies: Of course school supplies go for ultra cheap this time of year, but keep in mind that it can depend. Most stores run frequent-but-not-all-the-time sales on back to school supplies. Pay attention to store flyers if you really want the best deal on school supplies. It can also pay to shop now, rather than last minute, because stores will mark up supplies for last minute shoppers.
Got any insider tips about what to buy in August?

I would add:
1) lawn furniture, accessories and outdoor decorating stuff.
2) camping gear
3) summer clothing especially for children and women
4) sun glasses
Vacations are usually cheaper after Labor Day in many areas, so this is a good time to plan one.
