Greener Coupons Just in Time for Earth Day

In my previous post, five reasons why I don’t use coupons, I noted that one of my issues with coupons was their non-green factor. It’s a lot of paper waste, especially since not all of us recycle as well as we should. Well, I recently got the heads up about a new application that eliminates paper coupons (to a point) and still saves you money.

What’s this application?

Coupon Sherpa is an application you can add to your iPhone or iPod Touch. It allows you access to hundreds of in-store coupons for tons of merchants.

Coupon Sherpa allows access to two types of coupons…

Exclusive Coupons – This application features coupons from many retailers that are exclusive to Coupon Sherpa users. Show these coupons to at checkout to receive the discount.

In-Store Coupons from the Internet – The Coupon Sherpa staff scours the Internet daily to conveniently bring you the best in-store coupons. Find a coupon you would like to use by searching for the store name or category, then show it on your iPhone at check out, or email it to yourself to print out later.

See a video of how Coupon Sherpa works.

  1. This sounds pretty cool, but I don’t have the kind of phone needed to use this. I do subscribe to the paper so that I can get the coupons. All of the paper goes in the recycling bin though. I even pull recyclable items out of the trash that my family as throw away. They’re doing better, but still slip up sometimes.

  2. The only catch is that you have to buy an iPhone to use it! But if you already have one, it sounds interesting. I can just imagine the checker at the store growling at me, though.

I don’t have an I-phone either. This seems like a great idea, but I doubt any of the stores I go to would allow me to use coupons like this.

  4. MyCoupons says:

Or Android (Google G1 phone) users can install the FREE program titled “My Coupons” found on the marketplace. Search for it using the keyword “coupons”. Over 100,000 users can’t be wrong!
