Holiday Baking Supply Stock Up Sales

baking 019 I’m not going to bore you with my entire shopping history this week, but I did want to make sure you got in on some great baking supply sales that are going on.

Walgreen’s

This week, Walgreen’s has 5 pounds of Domino sugar for $1.99. (Limit 2) With the 50 cents off coupons that have been floating around, you can get sugar for $1.50 for 5 pounds.

You also will want to catch the 2 for $1 sale on baking essentials. Clabber Girl corn starch and baking powder are both included. With the $1 off 2 coupon in this week’s Red Plum insert, you’ll get them for free. (There is a limit of four baking essentials.)

If you are desperate for Karo corn syrup, 2/$5 minus 40 cent coupons from the other week isn’t a bad deal, but I think you’ll be able to do better with a sale in a store that doubles manufacturer coupons.

Betty Crocker frosting is on sale for 99 cents. The other week, there was a coupon in one of the Sunday inserts for 50 cents off. Not a bad deal, but I passed on this one.

And, I just realized that you can do pretty well on Blue Bonnet margarine if you have multiple coupons, but I used mine at Food Lion. Blue Bonnet is on sale for 3 for $2. If you have three 50 cent off coupons from today’s Smart Source, you can get 3 boxes of margarine for 50 cents.

Cream cheese is on sale two for $1.79 in my store. I didn’t see it in the paper, so it may be an unadvertised special. Not bad if  you need it today.

Food Lion

I picked up 50 cent Blue Bonnet margarine using the 50 cents off any one product coupons in this week’s Smart Source. (By the way, if your Food Lion still doubles coupons, you should be able to get it free. Ours wisely decided to stop as soon as the competition, which occasionally triples, arrived. I now only shop here for a few loss leaders when I’m going next door to Walgreen’s anyway and do most of my shopping at Martin’s, Weis, or Mars.)

I also bought Duncan Hines frosting using 75 cents off one coupons from this week’s Smart Source. (The Delaware paper has a 75 cents off two coupon instead, so this may not be a good deal for you if your coupons are different.)

Duncan Hines cake mixes were buy one, get one free. Someone always needs emergency cupcakes around the holidays, so I picked up two mixes even though the store didn’t have the carrot cake mix I had a coupon for on sale.

Martins

Nothing terribly exciting here but I still may pick up a few things tonight:

2 five pound bags of Gold Medal flour for $4 was an okay deal.  Combine it with the buy any 8, save $3 special and you’ll do even better. Keebler Ready Crust for $1.29 and Pillsbury Cake Mix 10 for $10 look like the best participating products to work a combo deal with.

If you didn’t get in on one of the other deals, Fleischmann’s yeast is two for $3. There is a coupon for 40 cents off. (I think it was 40 cents. I used it the other week at Weis.)

Weis

If you prefer Pillsbury Best flour, you’re in luck. Five pound bags are 3 for $6 at Weis this week.

Store brand cream cheese is on sale 10 for $10. If your Walgreen’s doesn’t have it on sale, $1 isn’t bad. I’m still waiting to buy my cream cheese, because Philadelphia brand usually goes on sale for the same price and I have coupons.

Does your favorite store have a good deal on holiday baking products? See a great deal I missed? Please share!

Photo by me. We’re getting an early start on gingerbread men. (The little guy wanted mini elephants and Christmas trees, so we only made two gingerbread men…)
