Holiday food

Don’t you just love the holiday season? My favorite thing is the parties. There is always great food and that there are usually at least one dish at every party where I want the recipe. But have you thrown one lately? It can be really expensive. So what can you do when you want to throw a great holiday party without spending a lot of money?

Have a potluck! No, this is not being cheap, it’s being creative. Tell your friends that there will be a competition for the best hors d’oeuvres and the best desert. Maybe even the best drink. Everyone wants to win something around the holidays. Then just sit back and enjoy the food. Now you can spend more time focusing on decorations.

I went to a party one time where we were told to bring our favorite dessert and copies of the recipe. We all got to sample the desserts, we got a copy of the recipe, and then we were given a goody bag to take some home. I thought that was a great idea.

We had a women’s Christmas party at church Sunday. We were asked to bring some finger foods and a $5 gift. We had a nice selection of foods and we played “Dirty Santa” with the gifts. It was fun.

I know. I love pot lucks at work since everyone is known for their special dish.
