paris hilton with petUnless you are Paris Hilton, who can afford Louis Vuitton pet carriers, most likely you can very well benefit from the following tips on how to cut cost on your pet:

DIY pet care

Since pet services cost such as grooming and veterinary have already increased, it’s high time you learn about how to take care of your pet’s needs all by yourself. Don’t be too busy making money to afford those pet necessities when you have the time and know-how’s to do them yourself. Books and online sources abound. Just key in “pet care” or “how to groom your dog/cat”. ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is one of the best sources of these info.

Do Comparison Shopping

Not just with pet supplies, but also with pet services that you can’t perform yourself, comparison shopping is the money-saver’s best strategy. Remember large stores sell supplies a lot costlier than local mom-and-pop shops.

Don’t make your pet a fashion victim

Sure you have seen celebrities’ pets wearing signature collars and pet clothing. But your pet does not need anything flashy, really. Warmth, food and regular patting will do.

Get Pet Insurance

But be very careful and choose those with premiums you can afford, of course. There are even pet insurance plans that cover routine services for your pet.

Keep your pet healthy

As the old adage say, health is wealth. Keep your pet well-fed but not to the point of making it obese since that can cause a lot of health problems. Also, get it neutered or spayed to avoid other health worries.

Hope those ways of making life with Fido not cause you to break the bank help you many animal-lovers out there, includes me, of course.
