Consumers can “opt out” of receiving telephone books at www.YellowPagesGoesGreen.org. This organization will contact the publishers and inform them to stop delivering books. This is a free service for consumers. www.YellowPagesGoesGreen.org is working with state and local governments on ordinances concerning the delivery of unsolicited telephone books. www.YellowPagesGoesGreen.org is not against the telephone books but against the delivery of 4 to 5 pounds of paper on people’s door step 5 to 6 times per year and being told it is our responsibility to recycle something we did not ask for. If we need a book we will call. Otherwise I “opt out” from receiving it.

Great idea to cancel the books. I'm sick of them too.

If you were my dad, you would make worm bedding out of the old books. (My dad takes care of his own fishing bait).

My college roommate and I used an old phone book to create an art project for our dorm room door. She wanted to be a lawyer, so we took all 26 pages of the attorney section to decorate our door. It was neat!

I've done that too. They are so much paper. I don't mind the main one from my phone company as much ... but I REALLY mind the duplicate/extra phone books.

Actually,I love getting phone books.
I'm lucky enough to have a cat that uses shredded paper for litter.
J just tear the newspaper and phone books with the grain and drop it in the litter box.
No bulky bags of litter to carry. No mess and it's sort of recycling.
