I might loose my part time job as well

My DH and I work hard to try to allow me to stay at home full time.  Currently, I work 2 days a week at the local hospital.  I work 2 10 hour shifts and we need that income to make ends meet somewhere close to the end of the month.  So when I heard that I might have to cut my hours back or take the chance of loosing my job, I was devastated.  Our department is moving hours around in order to avoid cutting back total hours.  Those working 10 hour shifts are being given the option to work 5 8 hour shifts instead of 4 10 hour shifts to cut down on down time at the end of the day.  Unfortunately, I only work 2 days a week.  So if I go to 8 hour shifts, I loose 4 hours a week.  That is huge to my budget.  I told them I would prefer to stay as one of the few 10 hour shift options left since I never get overtime.  But I DID tell them that I would rather work 2 8 hour shifts than loose my job all together.

See what I mean?  Why does the big 3 auto makers not get that? In the meanwhile, I will do my best to cut corners and keep my family afloat.  I only wish Karen lived closer to us as she is PHENOMENAL with budgets!

  1. Hi!
i’m SO sorry to hear about your troubles! :(
You all are praying-type people, right? Well, even if you’re not, i’m praying for you anyway.
i hope things get better. It sucks having to worry about jobs and money, especially at this time of year, when you may have already spent a bit more than you should. (well, at least i have.)
i really hope things get better. i also hope that soon you will be in a better place you were before that you couldn’t have been without going through this time of your life.

We pay cash for Christmas every year so we did just fine.

Yes, we are definitely praying people. I believe God gets you through everything whether you like the outcome or not! I am so thankful for that.

I’m sorry to hear your issues. It is a tough time for everybody.

But since you asked, the difference is that to make the comparison equal, you would have to take the reduction in hours asked, then take a reduction in pay on top of that because somebody says your salary is reason for the problems even though you already agreed to the prior reductions. (Hey, you asked)

  4. I’m sorry to hear the news about cutbacks at your job. I guess to find the upside (there’s always got to be an upside, right?), we can be thankful it is happening to someone frugal like you who knows how to tighten the budget at a home instead of someone who wouldn’t know what to do.

You’re in my family’s thoughts, and I really hope everything works out alright.
