Kelly: That might normally be the case, but our interest is going up in January, along with our payment. Our payment will increase $200 a month. I pray it sells soon!

Fingers crossed for you... really! We are going through the same thing. DH has been transferred and we can't go until the house sells. And our transfer involves leaving one country and going to another. Here's to a prosperous 2009! But what will be will be is the only way I can look at it. Don't even ask how long ours has been on the market. :(

Keep in mind that every dollar you put to the principle each month will come back to you. I know you don't want to pay the interest but you are still going to get a small fraction of each payment back when you DO sell the house.

Gina: Thanks for the tips. We chose our realtor because she is known for being "aggressive". She has our home listed in the magazines and on the internet, with a virtual tour. We just pray that things move along a little quicker. I'm tired of sinking money into this house!

Ginny: Congrats on finding a great house. The one we like is under foreclosure right now. I guess that explains the great asking price.

I feel your pain! My house has been for sale since June 9 - yes June 9 and we have only had one showing and one open house. We had another scheduled and they canceled the day before, it was so frustrating. I specifically did not look at houses in the new area because I did not want to fall in love with anything. I just looked enough to know that there was a decent-enough selection to find something when this one sold because I do NOT want to be stuck with two houses - especially in this economy. The waiting game sucks, but as a glass-is-half-full girl, I figure I am 5 months ahead of the people who put their house on the market today!

Karen,
I'm so thankful for your website that as a licensed realtor, though the market is poor I wanted to offer some knowledge *please disregard if this offends* I would make sure that your realtor is doing all they can to market your house listings on trulia.com/realtor.com, even craigslist if you have one locally using the virtual tour option, loads of pictures. As well make sure the house is priced competitively for your area. Though with this market all homes will take longer. As well if you have the option add a 1year warranty to the home, i've found that helps listings as well. GOOD LUCK!!
