It’s Strawberry Time!

Strawberries in a Wicker Basket

Last year I planted a dozen strawberry plants. We had a few strawberries but I didn’t expect much with the first season. The strawberries spread and grew though and took over about 3/4 of my vegetable garden. In May we noticed lots of pretty strawberry flowers and this weekend we started bringing some nice big, sweet ripe berries inside. It’s going to be a good crop this year too. We can probably freeze enough to last through the winter - if we don’t eat them all that is.

Don’t you love it when your veggies and berries are ready? Nothing beats the stuff you grow at home!

I’m soooo jealous! It’s 45* here. We are barely getting things in the ground! Our time will come…until then, enjoy a strawberry drink for me =)

Have you thought about dehydrating them? We’ve done that and you can do all sorts of things with them, plus you don’t have to take up freezer room.

Drama Mama, plant lettuce and spinach and cold crops, they will grow well until things get warmer. We are eating lots of lettuce and spinach in our salads and it is delicious.

Yesterday, I bought two blueberry plants. In five years, they should be producing 15 pounds of berries per plant. I absolutely love growing my own stuff.
