Kate Gosselin Gives Tips on Saving Money

Discovery Upfront Event

Okay, I looked at the front of the P&G February coupon insert about 40 times this week as I walked past it. And I just now registered what the front cover was saying. Kate Gosselin of Jon and Kate Plus Eight has some tips on saving money inside the insert. Well, since I’m pretty sure she was the person who got so upset when her hubby forgot to use a coupon a few episodes back, it makes sense that she’d be interested in saving money.

Her tips?

Get the kids involved with cutting and organizing coupons. That one cracked me up because with kids that age, the problem is keeping them away from the coupons. I get more “help” than I want any time I sit down with scissors and inserts or my coupon box. My less important coupons often end up looking like they were clipped by an elephant with four left feet. (The ones I know I’ll use are clipped after bedtime.)

Don’t waste stuff. She singled out paper towels and toilet paper. I can only imagine how fast 8 children who wanted to do it themselves could go through a roll of toilet paper. I’ve been pre-ripping a few 2 sheet pieces.

Use the same brands. If everyone has the same shampoo, you don’t have to search for deals on three or four types. Also, using the same brand means less clutter. I bought kid’s toothpaste for each kid and had three tubes on the vanity instead of one. They all used mine anyway, so I put theirs away again.

I am very disappointed that you used Kate Gosselin as an example of being thrifty. The reality of Kate Gosselin is that she lives off freebies received in exchange for exploiting her children. Is filming your children going to the bathroom, having meltdowns, and throwing up etc and showing it on television in exchange freebies thrifty? Maybe, but I just call it disgusting.

Kate’s worried about saving money? Seriously? What, doesn’t TLC pay for her groceries the same way they do her home and vehicles? That woman drives me nuts – she’s a Christian, yet so snarky to her husband on national TV that she makes me cringe. She’s turned her family situation (and even worse, her KIDS) into cash cows, and she seems to have started this whole multiple movement – is it any surprise the octo-mom in California ran to get a publicist right away?

Sorry to spill my belly juice, that woman just drives me nuts.

I have to admit, I’m not fond of her decisions either. I don’t believe her children can grow up “normal” with all of the extra attention and stress and I don’t watch the show. Can you imagine being a teen and having all of your classmates teasing you about a childhood incident they saw in reruns? However, P&G chose her as a spokesperson and she did give some good basic tips for people looking to save money.

To all of you, commenting on Kate Gosselin’s life with her family, if you haven’t walked in her shoes, don’t be so HARSH on her!!!!!!
Now adays there are bigger things to worry about
for all of us, than what others are doing to make ends meet!

Kate’s money saving tips are not anything out of the ordinary..any moron could of figured them out..apparently she did.
We cut coupons, use single toilet paper and use the same shampoo that is in the shower. Kate you are so freaking fake. You could not have thought of anything original.

I have to admit I like the show. I probably wouldn’t have agreed to the potty-training episode, but all in all I doubt it’ll do the kids any harm. I probably would’ve loved it (and all of their opportunities) as a child.

I thought it was hilarious when Kate got so mad at Jon for forgetting the coupon. I can see myself having the same conversation with my husband!

I think you guys are just jealous of her. She can have whatever she wants and her kids have whatever they want also her husband respects her not your husbands they probably beat your guys ass. she is an great person smart and talented. she does care for her kids more then you “ladies” probably care about yours, her . oh and you tek are you stupid or what how can you say she is fake umm honey she on tv 24/7 she as real as they get honey .

  8. amy says:

Wow Lisa that was a tad bit uncalled for to say that these people probably don’t care as much for their kids or their husband’s beat them. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but it’s alittle ridiculous to speak this way of people because they have different views.
