For those of you that printed the KFC coupons for a free meal deal, I have some sad information for you.

KFC has announced:
We are so sorry, but due to the overwhelming response to our FREE Kentucky Grilled Chicken™ meal coupon, we can no longer redeem the free coupon at this time. But we will honor our commitment to giving you a free Kentucky Grilled Chicken meal.
Please visit a participating KFC restaurant for a rain check form. Complete the form, attach your original coupon , and give it to the KFC restaurant manager or postmark per the form’s instructions, by May 19, 2009, and we’ll send you a rain check for your free Kentucky Grilled Chicken meal at a later date, plus a free Pepsi with our compliments. Your participating KFC restaurant will provide you with the form you need.
Please note that the redemption periods of the rain checks will vary. All other terms and conditions of the original free Kentucky Grilled Chicken coupon will apply.
You can see the original message along with a video from KFC.
And I just gotta say . . . Are you kidding me? Why are they acting all surpised by the turn out? This was advertised on Oprah. How many millions of people are watching Oprah? And they allowed each person to print FOUR coupons. Yes, free is free, but give me a break, KFC. Surely, you’re smarter than this.

wow. of course, i printed 4 coupons as soon as i saw the add. i thought at the time, do they realize what they’re getting into? apparently not…lol. oh well, i can wait and it is nice that now they’re throwing in a drink with the meal!!!
thanks for the heads up karen!!!
p.s. did you print off an extra 4 to feed that hungry preteen of yours????? lol.
No, I couldn’t print off more than 4. The coupon had a print limit.
I know the food is free and some would fault me for complaining, but I feel like they’re going back on their deal. It seems like it would cost more to make the apology video, advertise it on tv, and make the raincheck forms than to deal with the free chicken. I guess they’re hoping most people won’t make the effort to send in the form. I have to wonder if they’ll honor all four coupons with the raincheck.
I guess it’s a good thing we already went. I think this promotion probably worked well in small towns, but from what I heard is that it got pretty wild in the big cities. I think it’s really silly that they turned people away- maybe they should have allowed substitutions if stores were running out of grilled chicken.
I am pretty sure the rain check will have put the damper on this.
i’ve haven’t tried the chicken yet? how is it?
