If your budget is tight (whose isn’t?) you can still plan a killer Father’s Day this upcoming weekend. Try one of the following…

Plan a hike & picnic: Grab the whole family, or even another family and their dad, and head into the woods. Find the best hiking trials in the U.S.

Plant a tree: I know, the green in me, wouldn’t let me not say it. You can get a tree for very little $ and plant it with dad for a long lasting gift that also helps the environment.

Pamper dad: Even men like cool body care products. You can make an inexpensive homemade sugar scrub or soap for dad using more manly scents like amber, tangerine, or mint.

Vinyl bliss: Grab a second hand vinyl from the record store and make dad a cool vinyl bowl for chips.

Crafty kids: Have the kids make one or more crafty projects for dad. Free tips on how to make gifts, cards, and all sorts of art projects for Father’s Day can be found on many websites.

Wake him up right: Plan a fabulous breakfast event with unique food choices that he doesn’t get everyday.

Play fix-it: If your dad is older he might appreciate some handy help around the house – plant some flowers, fix something in need of fixing, mow the lawn, or slap a fresh coat of paint on the porch.

What other low-cost Father’s Day gift ideas do you have?

  1. Not exactly cheap or free, but definitely economical, what about a Leatherman Multi-Tool? Most guys who are remotely handy would benefit from having one around. If anything, would get us to stop opening things with our teeth. They do run about $50+ but in comparison to spending $100+ on something else, it’s a good savings. There are off brands as well that can be had for under $50, but Leatherman is the best.
