Low Cost Spay/Neuter Options

close up In our area, the SNAP program helps us save 50% or more on spay/neuter costs. Your state probably has a similar option. You may also be able to go directly to your local shelter to get a reduced price on the surgery.

I found a few options that may help you get your dog or cat altered for around $50. (or even cheaper if you meet income eligibility requirements for some programs.) The first is a site called Spay-USA, which directs you to local programs for a number of states. Love That Cat has a list for almost everywhere in the USA. Low Cost Neuter and Spay offers resources for cat lovers worldwide.

I know it is hard to justify even $50 for a vet visit when money is tight, but with the price of shots, kitten chow, care for a pregnant cat and newspaper ads, this is one case where spending a bit of money at the vet can save you money in the long run.

These are great programs. We got our 2 cats fixed a few months ago, and the discount program we went through made the go from $160 (100 for the female, $60 for the male) to just $10 each. We saved enough money to pay for their rabies shots & most of their booster shots.

    Jerri,
    That’s awesome. Way to save!
