Make $50 Fast

So, you’re being as thrifty as possible and you’re still $50 short on the rent. Or maybe you just need to buy a gift for someone special in the next few days and you don’t have any cash to spare. Whatever the reason, you need to earn a little cash fast. Is it possible to earn $50 in a day or two?
There are a lot of ways to make $50 fast. Here are a few to try:
- Deliver phone books or flowers. This is sort of seasonal, since there are specific times that phone books are distributed and florists really only need extra help around Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, etc. We used to do this growing up as a family.
- Check Craigslist.org for gigs in your area. Many times, people will be looking for moving help or someone to do a little yardwork for around $50.
- Give plasma. (Check with your doctor first. This isn’t always healthy.)
- Sell your junk on Craigslist. My sister had a bunch of stuff in her basement left over from construction and actually had a bit of a bidding war on some of it!
- Take stuff to the salvage yard. Copper wire or pipes, aluminum and brass can all net some much needed cash. (If you’re like my grandpa, who saved everything, you’ll probably end up with a lot more than $50!
- Babysit. If you have experience with kids and spare time at night, you should be able to land a sitter gig pretty easily. People get excited when they find out you are a mature and responsible adult.

Believe it or not sometimes surveys can do the trick. Or if you write you can find little gigs all over the net, they don’t pay well but it is instant cash.
Eliza,
I completely forgot about surveys. I recently made $50 on a survey for a kid’s product and got a free sample to try, too.
I was just thinking of this today and your picture was spot-on; when we used to drink soda, we would save the cans in the garage and make a “once in a blue moon” run to the recycling center. That was always good for $20-$30.00. Also, going through your books and unloading a few either on amazon or at a local used book store can work, too.
Chris,
That’s a great idea. A lot of people have books, movies and even video games they could resell.
