One More Way to Score Freebies

Did you know that if you call a product manufacturer to comment on their goods you may receive some cool swag? Here’s a few cases in point:

  • A neighbor called a pacifier manufacturer to ask a question about a product and received a parcel filled with free binkies, binky clips, bibs, coupons and more.
  • When my husband bought me a new laptop for Christmas, it didn’t work properly. We had issues with customer service and eventually called the main office to complain. As a result I received a brand new machine, but that’s not all. My new laptop was a higher end product with all the bells and whistles, and totaling more than a thousand dollars than the laptop we originally paid for!
  • A preschool Mom I know orders steaks and other high end meats from an online retailer. (Pricey, I know.) One day she called customer service to tell them that with all she orders from them, the least they could do is offer her an incentive. So they did, she received several coupons for free items.

I know people who have called customer complaint or comment lines and received coupons for free or discounted merchandise. While most business don’t like to receive complaints, they do rely on important customer feedback. Some places will even encourage it with free stuff and discounts.
