Our Money Saving Bag

I remember how excited I was when I didn’t have to carry a diaper bag. Those days are gone, but I still have to carry a bag. Thankfully, it isn’t big.
This is my children’s lunchbox. We carry it with us everywhere we go. It took a while to find one that was just the size I needed.
My son is 2 years old and not quite potty trained yet, so I needed a separate compartment for diapers and wipes. The front pocket is perfect for two diapers and a small travel size package of wipes.
Inside the lunchbox I always have a sippy cup for each child, a cold pack to keep the drinks cool, and some snacks. Some of the snacks we carry are granola bars, fruit and cereal bars, dry cereal, dried pineapple, raisins, and crackers. Sometimes, if I know we’re going to be out for a while, I’ll even pack a sandwich.
This bag has saved us so much money, not to mention constant whining!
We rarely stop at a fast food restaurant to grab something when we’re out longer than we thought we would be.
I found this lunchbox at Wal-Mart in the sporting goods department for about $6. I had been on the hunt for months for the right size bag. I’ll be glad when Cuddlebug is out of diapers. It will be easier to find a replacement bag then, plus it will be lighter.
Do you carry a bag for your child when you go out?

If it is a fairly short outing, I will try to shove everything in my purse. If I know we will be gone for a while, I carry a diaper bag and a lunch box with his milk. (I have a 19 month old)
My son is a constant grazer, so I always have some sort of snack with us. I keep a package of crackers in the car, a ziplock of snacks in my purse and a little snack size bag of something in his backpack.
I found his backpack at Target in the dollar-spot. It fits two diapers, a package of wipes, a small sippy cup and a small package of snacks perfectly. I’m so happy that I can finally start carrying my handbags again!
That’s funny–when mine were little they each carried a mini kids backpack full of their own stuff. Pullups or diapers, a change of pants, sippy cup, snacks, entertainment. It worked really well. Now that they are older we keep a bag on the back of the car seat filled with snacks so that we always have something with us.
We take a similar bag with us, especially when we go garage saling. I passed along your article at my site. Thanks!
