Potty training going great

So far we have had no accidents with potty training since Saturday afternoon. Turkey Butt is doing great! We are 2 weeks into it and she has been doing great! I have no illusions that it will continue to go smoothly but we are doing good so far. Here are my thirfty successes and failures with potty training so far …

Successes:

  • I did not waste my money on pull-ups. She treated them like diapers so I didn’t even bother.
  • I bought thick training pants so that our accidents wouldn’t be quite so bad.
  • I bought vinyl, waterproof pants to keep the mess to a small roar.
  • I bought Potty Patty pants for when we go out (these fell into both areas).
  • I bought a family potty lid since she keeps falling into the toilet with her Dora potty seat.
  • I bought a traveling potty seat so that when she goes in public, I don’t get grossed out and she doesn’t feel liek she is falling in.

Failures:

  • I spent $7.95 per pair of Potty Patty Training pants. Although they are worth their price for when you go out in public, they are expensive and I am wondering if they are worth the money for the short time she will need them.
  • I bought a musical training potty that makes noise. All she wanted to do was play.
  • I don’t remember to rinse her panties out soon enough sometimes and the odor is a killer.

We are learning and she is doing great but once again, you can waste a lot of money on this stage as well.  So don’t fall into the trap.   Good luck.

How funny, on New Years Day we just started potty training our 2 year old and she has done great. I learned from my first one not to use pull ups and to just put them in underwear and let them experience being wet. It has worked well with my second. She has been a breeze to potty train. I also put a potty chair in the car and she uses it great!

  2. Hi Kelly!
I’m potty training my son, too. Wholeheartedly agree about PullUps/EasyUps being too much like diapers. My son’s doing well…as long as he’s naked. Even the cotton training pants make him feel like he has license to use them like diapers. I suppose he’ll be able to wear pants at home again some day. At least it’s frugal!
