Quick Tip: avoid insurance expenses

September 3, 2008 by Jennifer Chait

Insurance expenses can get you. You can save more money if you avoid buying insurance for items like identity theft, car and truck rentals, accidents, and credit card theft. In most cases, by law, you’re already protected by the coverage you have (basic credit card rights and auto insurance and so fourth). It’s also smart to make sure you’re not overpaying for items you don’t need, like full window repair coverage (it may be covered in your auto warranty) and health care options you’ll never use.

This is such a good tip. And one that we all need to be reminded of regularly. It takes time to review all of those policies, but the last time I did, I saved a lot of money. Maybe you should remind us of this annually?
