Quick Tip for Cheap Birthday Parties

One thing we do for kids’ birthday parties is get a list of themes each child would like for next year’s party. Then, we keep an eye out for sales on things that will match one of the themes. For example, one little guy wants pirates, Batman or Speed Racer for his upcoming February birthday. When I was in the party store the other day and found all the Speed Racer stuff drastically reduced, I finalized the party plan right there and then. He’s doing Speed Racer. It really helps us have a nice party for much less than all the other neighborhood parents are spending and we always hear rave reviews.
Once we have the theme, we pick up related toys and games for the goodie bags (which are going to be Speed Racer stickers on paper bags instead of the more expensive plastic goodie bags sold in the store…) as we see them for 75% off in Target’s dollar spot and other places. Then, we supplement the goodie bags with related crafts and activities that are really inexpensive. For this birthday, we will probably be making Alka Seltzer rockets and rubber band cars.

One thing to consider on this is how much in advance you want to purchase the items…I had a girlfriend that purchased everything for her son’s Diego party and the week before his party was planned he insisted that they were having a Power Rangers party or no party…she had all the receipts for the Diego stuff but it took that much more time out of her busy schedule to have to return everything and start from scratch for a new theme…just keep that in mind as you are in search of those great deals
