put a pan of water on top of the stove to boil. turn it down to simmer and add a good sprinkle of cinnamon...smells like you've been baking all day. quick throw some cutesie dresses on the little girls and pull their hair up in ponytails with cute bows....grab large trash bags and play a quick game of clean up with the kids...stick the bags out on the deck...really makes your house look uncluttered. grab the windex...give a quick spray down on anything grubby looking. make yourself a cup of flavored coffee; plop a couple of kiddies on your lap as you read their favorite storybook to them...company wishes they could be as organized as you and have so much time to spend with their little ones.

Remember to empty out the oven before you turn it on to make dinner. Unfortunately I've forgotten and done that.

I make sure to use my carpet sweeper on the living room rug, to get up the crumbs and cat hair. I love the carpet sweeper, its old fashioned and it rocks. I recommend everyone get one, it beats hauling the vacuum out all the time. We bought it for my son, but I end up using it more than he play with it.

As kids, my mom would have us hide the dirty dishes too if someone showed up! :) Only we didn't have a dishwasher, so we'd have to really hide them - oven, microwave, etc.

For the bathroom, we'd have to dump all the dirty laundry in the tub and close the shower curtain.

Bedrooms could quickly be picked up and things stuffed in the closet or under the bed.

The trick is then actually cleaning once company leaves. That's the hard part for me. :D
